Our Mission
|
A young child takes time out to read a book in a temporary child care facility in Pass Christian thanks to the project, EMBRACE Mississippi’s Children. A collaborative effort of Mississippi State University’s Early Childhood Institute and the Mississippi United Methodist Conference, the project launched a national campaign to solicit and distribute educational materials and books to child care centers in the Gulf Coast counties that were damaged or destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. The Community Foundation of Greater Jackson awarded the project a $5,000 grant to jumpstart the initiative. Funds were used to purchase library kits for centers. |
The Community Foundation of Greater Jackson is a nonprofit, community corporation created by and for the people of Hinds, Rankin and Madison Counties. We help charitable donors establish permanent giving funds that reflect individual philanthropic interests while also making a long-term, positive impact on our community. In other words, we connect people who give with needs that matter. For good. Forever.
Ten reasons people choose to give through community foundations:
1. We are local and know the community’s needs.
2. We relieve donors of the administrative burden of maintaining a private foundation.
3. We provide highly personalized philanthropic services.
4. Using Donor Advised Funds, gifts can be made both in our community and across the United States.
5. Endowment funds create personal legacies that benefit the community forever.
6. We accept a wide variety of assets.
7. We make things happen fast.
8. We offer maximum tax advantages under state and federal law.
9. We offer expert investment management.
10. We are a trusted local institution.
