In 1994, Jackson was the largest city in the Southeast United States without a community foundation. A visionary group of Leadership Jackson alumni saw this void and banded together to create a foundation with the goal of establishing a permanent endowment for our community.

In the fifteen years since its inception, that seedling foundation evolved from the "Greater Jackson Foundation" into the Community Foundation of Greater Jackson and has increased from four charitable funds in 1996 to over 180 funds today.

Together with those who have created charitable giving funds and our Partners, we have already made a difference in the lives of thousands. Since our inception, we have made 3,793 grants (both in-state and out), totaling over $20 million. With the help of these grants, organizations serving the needs that matter are able to continue their work, transforming lives and strengthening their communities.

We work with attorneys, accountants, financial advisors, and others who trust us to help them meet their clients’ philanthropic goals. We serve a compassionate and giving community. We are thrilled to have helped so many of you begin a lifetime of giving back to your community and leave a legacy of giving for generations to come.
