Your Community Foundation hosted its 2010 Community Celebration on November 15th at Duling Hall. Members of the Foundation, Nonprofit Partner representatives, Trustees, and grantees attended the meeting, which was graciously sponsored by Trustmark National Bank and HORNE LLP.

Over 100 CFGJ donors, grantees and members enjoyed presentations by Board Chairman Luther Ott, President and CEO Doug Boone, Francine Reynolds (Artistic Director, New Stage Theatre) and Rob Hill (Pastor, Broadmeadow Methodist Church).

Luther Ott noted that CFGJ is in the top 50 active grantmaking community foundations in the nation. Doug Boone spoke of a banner year for your Foundation—with 2.4 million in grants He also highlighted the opening of five permanent endowment funds in the tri-county area: Mustard Seed, Magnolia Speech School, Greater Belhaven Neighborhood Foundation, the Museum of Natural Science, and the Thomas G. Ramey and Peggy Huff Harris Charitable Fund.

The CFGJ annual reports printed by Hederman Brothers were placed throughout the room. This year’s theme “For Good. Forever. For all of us.” was enhanced by colorful photographs and great stories about the philanthropic spirit of CFGJ donors and the recipients of their generosity.
Music by Bill, Temperance & Jeff rounded out the evening as guests savored delightful food by Jeff Good’s Mangia Bene.

Through the support of generous donors, the Foundation awarded $2.4 million in grants for fiscal year 2008-2009.
