Since its inception in 1994, Your Community Foundation has awarded more than $23 million in grants that have served a broad spectrum of vital needs throughout our service area of Hinds, Rankin, and Madison Counties.
We look forward to continuing to increase the capacity of nonprofit organizations in our communities so that they can continue their important work.

Your Community Foundation supports nonprofit organizations by addressing a wide range of community needs. Donor-advised funds award grants in areas that are important to the Fund Creators who established them.

Program Area Descriptions
- Education - Supporting public education and strengthening educational outcomes for our children is a high priority at your Community Foundation. Through a grant to Jackson Public Schools, district teachers are being trained in differentiated instruction. This training enables the teachers to bring many different teaching methods to the classroom and increase success with their students.
- Arts and Culture - Mississippi is culturally blessed like no other state. The Foundation preserves and enhances our singular culture through forward-thinking programs. The Foundation facilitated a partnership between a donor and the Mississippi Museum of Art that resulted in the design of a beautiful arts plaza to be located at the museum. The plaza will be home to outdoor concerts, art exhibits, and community activities.
- Religion - The foundation’s donors represent great religious diversity. Through the generosity of many donors a wide variety of denominations are served and missions throughout the world are funded.
- Human Services - Your Community Foundation supports nonprofits serving vulnerable populations. Through the Thomas G. Ramey and Peggy Huff Harris Charitable Fund, Operation Shoestring continues its good work of ensuring the children and families of the Mid-City and Georgetown neighborhoods continue to rise.
- Disaster Relief - The last few years have been tumultuous but thanks to your generosity we’re weathering these challenges. The Foundation has partnered locally with the Central Mississippi chapter of the American Red Cross to assist victims of spring tornados in Yazoo County. Several of our donors assisted those affected by the Haiti earthquakes through their support of Episcopal Relief and Development.
- Healthcare - The medical community of the tri-county area is a driving force behind the research and development of treatments of some of society’s most devastating illnesses. Our donors help organizations fight diabetes, cancer, and heart disease through their gifts. Our partnership with the Junior League of Jackson has facilitated the funding of life-saving work at the Blair Batson Children’s Hospital for many years.
- Community Development and Public Affairs - Programs and services that help our communities grow strengthen our entire community. The Fondren Renaissance Foundation continues to promote the growth of the Fondren Business District and the sense of community of the neighborhoods that surround it thanks to several of our generous donors.
- Strengthening Nonprofits - We help strengthen nonprofits serving the entire area. The Mississippi Center for Nonprofits uses grants from our donors to help start-up and established organizations build capacity and expertise in program services, administration, and fundraising.
- Youth Development - Our grants build the capacity of organizations serving the future of our communities. Through a grant from CFGJ the Boys and Girls Club of Central Mississippi was able to open a teen center in Canton. Tutoring, art instruction, and computer literacy are just a few of the programs being offered to the middle and high school students in north Madison County.
- Animals - Building a caring community includes considering of the needs of animals and those organizations who serve their well being. Through several grants to the Mississippi Animal Rescue League our donors help that organization continue to find good homes for pets that need them.
- Housing and Shelter - Better homes and better services for low income families build better communities. Generous donors to Habitat for Humanity Metro Jackson ensure that quality, affordable housing is available for deserving families.
