The Hinds County Sheriff's Office Second Chance Pet Partners Project teams inmates with dogs from local animal shelters. The inmates learn the skill of animal obedience training while teaching the dogs. Once trained, the dogs are returned to shelters where their new skills make them more attractive to potential adopters. A handful of the animals are deemed appropriate for special needs training and are taught to serve the disabled.

As compensation for its services, the Foundation charges minimal fees for the funds which it manages. An annual fee for each fund is taken in April. Fees are in addition to any charges assessed by the custodian of the fund, such as commissions on stock trades, and a small quarterly fee charged by our investment advisor.

The annual fee for privately endowed funds is one percent (1%) of the fund's average market value of the previous year, with a minimum of $300. For example, a fund with an average balance of $125,000 would pay an annual fee of $1,250.

Annual fees for all funds held on behalf of non-profit organizations are one percent (1%) of the average market value of the previous year on the first $500,000 of assets and one-half percent (0.5%) on all amounts above $500,000, with a minimum of $300.

Pass-through, or non-endowed, funds are charged an annual fee of two percent (2%) of the average market value of the fund on the first $100,000 and one percent (1%) on amounts above $100,000, or a $500 minimum, whichever is greater.

Scholarship funds are charged an annual fee of two percent (2%) of the average market value of the fund or a $500 minimum, whichever is greater.

Funds for which the Foundation operates a competitive grant program are charged an annual fee of one-and-one-half percent (1.5%) of the average market value of the fund or a $300 minimum, whichever is greater.

The fee for supporting organizations shall be negotiated.
