Education Foundation Trust

The Jackson Public Schools Education Foundation Trust, Inc. was created in 1985 by the MetroJackson Chamber of Commerce with the goal to fund classroom enrichment and student motivation programs which could not be funded by the regular school budget. Approximately $500,000 was raised by leaders in the Jackson community to establish the Trust. In December of 2000, the Trust was transferred to the Community Foundation of Greater Jackson; thereby creating the Jackson Public Schools Education Foundation Trust Fund. Through careful investment management, the fund is now worth over $1,000,000 and has awarded $830,802.42 in grants since the first round in 1986.

In 2006 EFT in partnership with the Junior League, awarded 129 mini-grants totaling over $107,000 to various JPS schools.
